God’s Gift – our giving
Post a Pledge for Pentecost
After Easter, the disciples of Jesus didn’t just go back to their old jobs! They found themselves empowered by the Holy Spirit of Pentecost, devoting their lives and their gifts to spreading the good news of the risen Jesus.
This is still the church’s great task, and all of us as the friends of Jesus in our own day have a share in his mission. This is a personal task for each of us according our gifts, but it has to include our financial support for his church.
Our church costs around £1,000 per week to maintain. Less than half of this is met by our present rate of regular offertory giving. This means that we have to continue to dip into our diminished reserves and depend a lot on hall lettings. We think we can do better!
What is more, our North Western Synod has just approved an increased levy in our contributions, based on membership and attendance at worship in each of our churches. Yes, we are all “feeling the pinch” in the current climate – and the church of God is not exempt!
After Easter, you will be receiving a Pledge Pack from your elder. We are inviting all members and friends to think and pray and plan to make a pledge, based on how much you think you will be able to give, weekly, monthly, or over the year, as your offering to the church.
The pledges will be completely anonymous, but the figures themselves will help the Treasurer to know whether we can meet this year’s budget, as agreed at the Annual General Meeting.
Full details will be in the Pledge pack, but please make a note of the following dates:
