Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals

Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals are important milestones in our lives, and these are times when many people feel that they would like to mark the occasion with a Church ceremony of some kind.

We would be delighted to discuss your plans with you and see how we might help. Please contact us via the Contact us page.

Baptisms

The birth or adoption of a child is a moment for celebration and we are delighted to share the special occasion with you.  Baptism is a sign of God’s love which comes to us without any ‘strings attached’, we are just invited to receive this gift of love.

Baptisms usually take place in the morning service and the minister will be pleased to meet with you personally to plan the service.

Information is also available in a booklet available from the United Reformed Church “What we believe about Baptism”- view here.

Weddings

Garstang URC’s building is authorised for marriages, marriage blessings and the blessing of Civil Partnerships.  It is important to note that a Registrar must also be present at some of these events. We would be delighted to help celebrate your special day.

Marriages can be arranged for members and non-members alike and our church provides a lovely setting for the occasion.

Funerals

Through funerals and services of thanksgiving, our church offers support to families and friends faced with the loss of a loved one. The graveyard is full but we have a small memorial garden where a plot may be purchased to inter the ashes of a loved one (maximum two caskets per plot).  Alternatively there is a memorial wall where a plaque can be displayed in memory of the person concerned.

Please contact the minister who will meet with you, offer support and help you to plan a funeral that reflects the life of the deceased and their individual circumstances.
